A lot of Republicans hope the repeal bill will be defeated because they don’t want to own a losing issue that will eventually have to go single-payer as the only way to provide universal coverage at a reasonable cost.
Switch their places, this is all Trump’s government, what is happening now, is happening on his watch. Don’t be “that guy” that complains about the last president, I certainly wasn’t, and accepted Obama’s fails and his wins. I do so with this president as well, we are already living with Trumpcare.
A new low for you Lisa. You know that most of the Republican senators and ALL of the Democratic ones have been shut out of the process of drafting this draconian legislation. You are deliberately distorting the facts of the matter. Please read David Gerson’s op-ed in the Post this week. You need to rethink your commitment to actual ideals of your Republican party.
An ideological “win” that transfers more wealth to the 1% doesn’t do squat for Republican small business owners. And the Kansas Experiment pretty well proved that trickle down is BS. Sadly it will require another depression to convince the average GOP supporter that the party doesn’t really care about the base. The majority of the wealth transfer will come from red states and go to coastal elites. Well played Grand Old Party, well played.
Despite the Republican hype machine’s dire warnings of places where there will be one or no insurance companies offering plans under the Exchange, those counties are not reflective of what’s happening in the parts of the country where most of us live. The counties that may have no plan in 2018 will have 35,000 people affected. The counties where there may only be one insurer offering plans, will affect a couple million people. These are real people, with a real need for health coverage. Trump & the GOP could easily have addressed the problem of getting carriers into these counties with tiny populations & higher costs of care than average. They chose to give a tax cut to extremely wealthy people & to allow insurance companies to charge unaffordable premiums to anyone with pre-existing conditions or who is over the age of 50.
The ACA gave coverage to millions of people who’d never had any. Insurers are leaving markets because of the incredible uncertainty about what’s going on in Republican controlled Washington. The ACA could be made much better. I was talking to a conservative about how his company stopped providing health insurance because they realized it was cheaper & easier to tell their employees to sign up on the exchanges. The ACA didn’t do a good job of addressing the increasing costs for small businesses. The GOP wasted 6 years with rants about “repeal & replace”, instead of trying to fix the real problems.
Eventually, voters will realize that Trump’s talk about “much better, much cheaper” plans was a bunch of political hooey. Ryan & McConnell may want to take an overseas vacation when that happens.
This is BS. Lisa, gives us some evidence, how has it failed? Closed hospitals? Doctors out of work? People dieing in the streets? No, it is expensive, yes indeed. But failed? No. No way. Expensive because the Republican Congress and Governors sabotaged it. Killed? Yes. Failed? No.
ACA has problems, just like any major program that has ever been implemented. The Republicans preferred the political theater of endless bills to “repeal” rather than actually working for the benefit of their constituents.
.This would be more honest – Donkey asking for the help while trying to drive healthcare while the elephant is spreading nails, logs and any other blockades they can think of to disable healthcare.
A Republican homerun! obstruct and do little else but try and repeal the law for six years, but not ready on day one to give us better coverage for less money. Now we see the bill is actually just taking people off healthcare and giving the money to the wealthy. But, sure, homerun!
Ha, we’ve screwed over the Democrats right proper. First we created the TrumpCare bill behind closed doors so the Democrats couldn’t contribute anything and then we criticized them for not contributing anything. Gotcha!
When will Lisa learn to accept that the Republicans are now in the driver’s seat? Obamacare offers millions of Americans Health Insurance. The Republicans want to take a knife to that, but it’s not a surgical one.
