you are right, this is exactly how the Republicans see Democrats. The Klan is based in 22 states, and has seen a recent boost in membership. Nationwide, there are still an estimated 3,000 Klan members and unaffiliated people who “identify with Klan ideology.” But I guess if you are a Reicht-winger 2500 is close enough.
