“Whatever the validity of the ‘’control question’’ test, experts on both sides agree there is no evidence that the typical preemployment test is accurate. It usually consists of a long list of vague and general questions, hurriedly administered, concerning personal honesty and habits. The main point, some experts say, is to create a situation that will elicit damaging admissions that might disqualify applicants. The specific results of the polygraph are secondary.”
There’s a reason Polygraph results are inadmissible in court.
Well do you want the job or not? To work in the Nuclear industry you have to pass a drug test before being hired and randomly there after? So do you want the high paying jobs or not???
In 1980 I applied to a restaurant chain for a position as District Manager. I was told that I would have to take a lie detector test. So, no problem, I took it. During the exam, I was accused of lying and stealing among other things. Finally, I ripped the equipment off and told him that I didn’t need a job badly enough to put up with that!
Next morning, the VP called and asked when I wanted to start. I told him that he should talk to that examiner. He said that he had already and that I passed with flying colors. I told him that I was accused of everything short of the Kennedy assassination. He said, “Oh yeah, we have them do that. Amazing how many people will tell what they have done wrong when accused”.That should have been a sign of what they were about. I took the position and 3 months later, I told them goodbye. Crazy bunch of people! Two years later, they were out of business!

Lie detectors are pseudoscience.
