Ouch. I am glad you are getting a new one soon. When my daughter’s a/c died (and yes – at the hottest time of the year) the company said they could replace it with one the same size and style in 2 weeks. Two weeks later they showed up with one that was way too big for the spot it needed to be and the wrong style. She was told that the company did not carry that style. Because her two dogs were suffering in the heat she told them to install it. A few weeks later we found a company that did have the style she needed and they showed up in 2 days to disconnect her new one and put in their unit. My other daughter got the new one that was too big so everyone was happy in the end. The first company – we recommend to all our friends to deal somewhere else.
My wife inherited this behavior from her family. It can be rather frustrating when nobody wants to make a decision that might not be the same as someone else’s choice.
If dogs ever figure out the doorknob principle we are in for difficult times. If cats ever figure out he can opener principle they will not need us at all.
I think Cathy’s mom hit a little close to the mark today. Speaking from experience, you can work hard enough to forget problems at home – at least for a little while. Fortunately I learned how bad an idea that was before I lost my family.
Have a fantastic Friday – and for those heading into a long weekend have a great weekend. Well, have a great weekend even if it is a normal one.
I have met a few moms that I am glad were not mine. I was fortunate that both my mom and my mother-in-law were easy to get along with. Unfortunately I was just really getting to know my mother (funny how you have to get beyond your teenage years before you know you parents as humans) before she died at 63. Fortunately my father lived long enough (95) that we did become friends. And yes, I still miss being able to talk to both of them.
Confident??? I think lightenup is right – Cathy’s answers in the first two panels are definitely suspect.
I think one of the best ways to meet people is to get involved in community events – especially as a volunteer. I meet a lot of people at the theatre. Of course they are way younger than I am but then I am old and not available anyway. Still you do meet a lot of interesting people there. My assistant met a woman while they were helping out in the theatre. Unfortunately they now spend a lot of time together outside the theatre and did not finish a few projects they were working on for the last production.
Funny how the brain, usually on a bad day, suddenly becomes aware of passing time and its affect on our body. Fortunately on good days we don’t seem to notice (other than that those days go by so quickly).
Happy Birthday Rgcviper!!! and happy Monday (especially if you have a holiday today) to everyone.
