Not sure if your analogy holds. The Palestinian population does not appear to be willing to fight to the last for their god like the Japanese were willing for the mikado.

Not sure if Tet is the analogy you want. Certainly from a PR stand point, the North Vietnamese “won” Tet. From a military stand point, it was a disaster for them as their goal was to foment rebellion in the ARVN and the south in general.
