Reality beats any opinion including my own.   — — — — — — — — (this should be a newline. Sigh.) Bowdlerizers are sucky and stupid. Fix rejected words by inserting ‍‍ somewhere into the forbidden word. Both the & and the ; are required. The magic incantation places the equivalent of an invisible dash or dot where you put it, so the bowdlerizer sees two words, neither "wrong".   — — — — — — GC has decided to enforce a rule against posting URLs. You can simply capitalize the TLD to fool the 'bot: google.Com or wikipedia.Org for example.

Sarah Booze isn’t able to understand your (or my) point. Maybe they haven’t encountered real refugees (or camps). Maybe they simply don’t recognize the humanity of folks from “far far away” … but most probably, they’ve never lived in a situation where it was simply impossible to move on, find work, etc. and cannot imagine that such places exist.

Yes, “some”. Not all corporations are huge or dodging their fair taxes. One very local brewery, for instance, is a corporation. They employ about 20 or so people all told, run a deli in front and brew what my son tells me is excellent beer (I don’t tolerate the flavor of hops, so I mostly avoid beer, particularly the fancier small-run ones).

You think being that rich isn’t obscene? Why?

I, too, will avoid hyperbola here. Partly because I know a person who had a brain tumor removed whose personality and apparent intelligence suffered not a bit. Though is boy did wonder out loud whether there’d be trouble when they let the vacuum out… a story he still likes to tell.

As far as I can tell from this distance, rfkjr has ALWAYS had a tendency to prefer whacko ideas.

And where the infinitive is indicated by a different ending to the word, not a helper word. So you simply CANNOT split an infinitive in Latin. Unless you engage in tmesis, of course.

I knew some gay people back in the “good old days”. They certainly didn’t have it so good back then. And I knew some folks with a little more melanin in their skin than me. THEY were subject to Jim Crow laws back then. And in certain parts of the country, simply lynching. Of course, they’ve traded that for being shot by cops, but at least they’ve got a legal channel to deal with that now. Heck, my cousin married a (gasp!) JEW back in the late 60s or so… and my uncle refused to even come to the wedding! THAT has certainly gotten better.

And lets not even START on medical advances, energy efficiency, the internet or cell phones.

I know, I know all of that last paragraph is anathema to the Right Whingers, and so is all that “woke” stuff. The only thing that really surprises me is that there are females and people of color (and, shhhh, maybe even a few gay folk) who will actually vote for the Cult of Trump in November. Beggars my imagination!

Something like 85% or more of us WON’T feel a thing. Except we’ll feel better when the national debt starts getting retired a little faster. The tax hike is ONLY on the obscenely rich. And maybe some corporations.

But Varvel is paid to ignore such “subtleties” as WHO the tax hike affects. And of course, whether it gets past the House (not a chance in HELL)

He’ll never get all that he deserves (short of an afterlife, maybe). But he certainly deserves AT LEAST to suffer in this way, this much.

If you grew up in a refugee camp, cannot find a life outside said camp, and are completely dependent on others to provide for your needs, how are you NOT a refugee?

I do understand that the “edge cases” are less clear cut… and that one can argue they’re ALL “edge cases”. And I do understand both sides of things that I think are hopelessly silly like “reparations” to folks SOME OF whose multi-great grandparents were slaves or forced off their native lands.

And apparently it’s really REALLY hard to fix “credulous” too.
