I’m generally not bored either. I take care of my elderly mother, driving her to Dr. appointments and the like, also have more time to practice playing a full sized keyboard. I just say I’m bored to make my wife feel better. It usually doesn’t work though.
I wouldn’t be surprised if this were taken from real life. My wife did tech support for a TV/internet service at one time, she was surprised at the amount of ignorance out there. One guy called in saying he couldn’t get his computer to turn off. She told him to push and hold the button for 5 seconds. He did and it turned off.
Being raised in a single parent household, I would call my mom at work and tell her I was bored. She suggested dishes, laundry, bathrooms, all of that fun stuff. I told her I wasn’t that bored.
Now that I’m retired and my wife is still working, I told my wife she was lucky, she gets to go out and go to work, but I have to stay home with nothing to do. She found it really hard to sympathize with me.
Their tuning out will hopefully work in Jay’s favor.
