I know; the “halfway plot switch” is just a figure of speech TV Tropes uses. It’s like “The Simpsons” frequently doing such a thing with the episode’s focus changing near the end of the first act.
Now comes a HUGE halfway plot switch! I like how Calvin’s running pose in the last panel looks very similar to the strip from September 24, 1987. (“A lot can happen when you’re gone all morning! MOMMMM!!”)
Heh, the parents in the first panel are amusing. I love how the Dad was not as thrilled about the wedding as much as Calvin.
I picture this strip underscored by that Bruton/APM rendition of the “Wedding March” titled “Wedding Procession” by Leslie Pearson, as heard in Nicktoons like “Ren & Stimpy”, “Rocko’s Modern Life” and “SpongeBob SquarePants”…
If Calvin didn’t leave Hobbes behind, he’d think it’s exciting their house was broken into.
