   I would’ve sworn that I’ve seen it spelled “Luddie” in the strip before but I think today’s is the phonetic spelling.  Since his name “Ludwig” is pronounced “Lood vig” (at least in German it is) it makes sense the nickname would be pronounced “Loo dee.”

   And regarding “I suppose people can mess with their pets’ names like that sometimes…”  That’s true, considering what parents have done with children’s names to make them stand out and be special!

   Literally!  Whenever someone says “you got a haircut” I always reply like mckeonfuneralhomebx did…“I got em all cut!”

   Another favorite is when they say “you cut your hair” I tell them “actually I had someone else cut it. Last time I cut it it didn’t turn out well!”
