I donate money to the local food bank/basket society. The office is next door to the kitchen where they cook meals for the homeless. I poke my head into the kitchen to say hi to a long term cook I’ve gotten to know. I see my money going directly to those who need it, (If I feel flush, our animal shelter is next.)
M’nephew took cooking classes because he had to wait till he got older to try out for the RCMP. He got a job in the more expensive restaurant on a big ferry, good pay, occasional weather challenges and free trips across the Salish Sea. Learned the ropes. Later got his spurs.
