   If you do an online search for images by typing “Mary Cassatt The Banjo Lesson,” it is amazing to me how many variations of this picture she created. The poses of the two figures and the banjo are essentially the same in all of them, but the amount of detail and the colors used are very different. I wonder if this huge variety of sketches for a painting was typical for Cassatt.

    Taste in humor is idiosyncratic. Back in the arrow-through-the-head days I found him very likable, but not particularly funny. The King Tut song and dance wasn’t my kind of humor, but I did like some of his SNL sketches and movies. As we’ve both aged, I like his writing and his comic acting more and more.
