   To me, it’s not a “Laziness Monster”; more like a Monster of Negative Self-Esteem.

   I have a theory that we’re all given this sub-conscience voice. It tells us positive influence when everything is great, but also degrades us when things are horribly wrong. The unfortunate thing is that negative side can speak louder and longer lasting to some, to the point where you lose motivation for even basic daily functions. That holds more true if you listen and give in to what it tells you.

   Kutchner must not know much about my closest friend. He, his wife and their 1 year old son were evicted from their home for NO REASON by the housing company and landlord (Section 8 housing). They’ve been homeless since early April this year, been in-and-out of hotel rooms a few times, but mostly sleeping in their car; even during the most cold nights of early spring.

   They’ve signed applications and are on a mind-numbingly long waiting list to get into an apartment through a local low-income housing program, but who knows when their status is moved up in line by priority. It could be a month, 6 months, a year… I’ve generously helped them out here and there, making sure they’re not hungry, cold or even listening to their challenges. I know they didn’t do anything wrong to get where they are.

   Most of the stores near me have stopped accepting personal cheques as a method of payment years ago. I personally stopped doing so, once the bank issued me my first ATM/Debit card.
