What’s really sad is that the cost of the doll and all the stuff that goes with it, the girl would have been considered well off. $100 at the turn of the 20th century was literally a small fortune.
A scheme to get lots of money from parents and actually teach the child, though at much higher prices. The doll is cheaper than all the accessories.
