Gotta admit, here in California, we grill stuff and call it barbecue….
especially if we put barbecue sauce on it.
Even if you go to a “barbecue” restaurant that may be what you get….
And it can be very good.
But there are some barbecue places here that actually smoke the meat with a dry rub on it…
and they may or may not put sauce on it afterward.
And you can bet that if they don’t, some customers will say “But where’s the barbecue sauce?”
Geez Louise! Just plug in the Black and Decker crock pot.
I love BBQ sauce but I always want it on the side for dipping. Ordering the meat dry lets you enjoy the way it was intended before the sauce bath.
Thanks for the clarification. I used to call any outdoor cooking “barbecue”.
