He did the best thing for the company considering the uber user demographic. His decision was no doubt helped by the fact that any drop in the share price would cost far more than he could earn in the next decade. So not PC pressure so much as a good helping of self interest. It also shows the character of the man that he didn’t let his ego get in the way of a sound decision.It also shows the power of social sanction for companies with a direct consumer focus. Now how can companies without such a focus be persuaded to cease far more egregious examples of soicil harm?
If only we could jettison all leaders who are sexist pig who create an atmosphere of harassment. The mismanagement of a company, department or country should be enough to dump the current boss.
