It’s easy to pray for someone like Leo. He’s likable. Try praying for someone like Trump.
I have to admit, I have a tough time with the concept. I feel like Sisyphus: I just about get to the point where I can see him as a child of God like me and other people, and he goes and does something stupid and I have to start all over. I think God is testing me. Maybe he’s trying to get me to stretch my “love muscle” (Get your mid out of the gutter!).
I have to go with the corollary to Occam’s Razor, “Never ascribe to malice that which can adequately be explained by ignorance.” He and his followers just don’t know any better. So it’s “Forgive them father, for they know not what they do.” I guess that counts as a prayer.
