What killed those birds might end up having an effect on humans, either directly (what poisoned them (if they were poisoned) might poison us) or indirectly (it might also kill species important in our lifestyle or agriculture. For example, et’s say they have a virus that can be transmitted to whatever eats the diseased bird, we might see an epidemy in house cats in the next months).
On the other hand, I can’t help but think this is becoming a Baloon boy.

As I said on some other ‘toon, the fish kills are frequent and usually easy to explain. These bird kills are a mystery to me.
