Interesting how the Republican party goes about changing laws they don’t like. They’ve had two years to come up with a plan for a new health care bill. Did they? No, they still need to think about it!

It all boils down to a simple point of principle.

If I have money, I deserve to have it because I must have earned it because I have it. If you don’t have money it is your own fault. If I want to help you in your hour of distress, that should be my individual choice. No person or collection of persons calling themselves ‘the majority’ or ‘the government’ or ‘the people’s elected representatives’ have the right to take MY money to pay for YOUR health insurance.

Even when they do it via a tax penalty that I must pay if I don’t act in my own self-interest to buy my own health insurance. No person or persons have the right to make me take care of myself, no matter how much of a burden I will be to them if I don’t.

    It is a matter of:

Personal Responsibility: Being responsible for yourself, and being responsible for, and to, no one else.

    and

Liberty: The right to do as much harm to as many people as you wish, so long as you don’t harm any one person badly enough to give him grounds to sue you. As in, I cannot dump a ton of toxic chemicals into your backyard, but I can pump that same ton of toxic chemicals into the air that millions breathe. Try proving in court that even ONE specific person was harmed by THOSE specific chemicals and not others!

Look out for number one! Every man for himself and the devil take the hindmost! That’s the American Way! Anything else is European Collectivist Communalist Socialist Communist Tyranny!!!!!

    Liberals just don’t understand freedom.

The hypocrisy of the Republican party is absolutely astounding. First off, the health care reform package passed by the Democratic congress was largely modeled on the one adopted in Massachusetts a few years ago when Mitt Romney–a REPUBLICAN–was governor. At the time, Romney thought it was the best thing since sliced bread, and it was praised as a model for national reform. Secondly, think back to the debate over ‘Hillary Care’ about 15 years ago. One of the proposals the Republicans came up with to counter the Democrat plan involved having an individual mandate. But when a democrat comes up with the same plan, suddenly its socialism. Go figure.

    The Republican party’s ‘Christian’ values:

“It is more important for Joe CEO’s kid to get a Ferrari for his birthday than it is for YOUR kid to get cancer treatment.”

If doing what you like does not fix a problem, you should consider thngs you don’t like, but like more than the problem. Cheapest is to ignore the problem.

    DGBA:

Wrong! To ignore a problem is cheapest in the short term. It is much costlier in the long term. That attitude is what bankrupted Illinois and represents the problem we have when congress caters to short term interests and does not act until the problem reaches crisis proportions.

Well yes, doughfoot was being ironic, BUT…

If those comments of his HAD been 100% serious, it wouldn’t have been the first time that happened on this forum.

    Anyone else here remember Stewie?

The Repubs fought healthcare reform in the Clinton years never addressed it in the Bush years and now say they want to present a better plan… all they are missing is credibility.

    And a plan.

Maybe they just assume it’s a non-issue, since whenever they need medical care, they get it free of charge.

Now, now, there’s nothing wrong with that.

Unless you ended up as an orthopedic surgeon specializing in total hip and knee arthroplasties.

Then that could get a bit awkward.

    Young french canadian people call chiropactors, well, chirpractors or chiros but their grandmas and grandpas have a different word for it;

“Ramancheux”, from the verb “ramancher”, to put back together something that was in pieces all over the place.

Always reminds me of Mr. Potatohead!

FrenchCanadianMaid, chiropractors are health care professionals who couldn’t make it into Doctor of Osteopathic programs.

Jack75287 is concerned about a singular case of some idiot providing substandard medical care.

His concern is that he wants to outlaw all such medical care, so that every women gets such sub-standard care, instead of just a tiny percentage of them.

Allowing this case to get prosecuted under existing laws isn’t good enough for Jack75287, because…well, why don’t you tell us, Jack75287?

You didn’t mention, Jack75287: Why do you hate women so much? Did your mother hate you? Bad experience with prostitutes? What was it?

Toles got it wrong. The GOP surgeons just walk away. They don’t even bother to close the wound.
