pavlov is correct that SS was intended to be a “safety net” or supplement and NOT a full pension. The insurance and pharmaceutical companies DO regard Medicare as a cash cow. The failure to “negotiate” drug prices in Part D however was a pure Republican/industry plan to increase their profits, which greatly increased cost to taxpayers. But hey! Check out Rumsfeld’s ties to big pharma and you start to see the real picture.
