Pavlov’s parents and grandparents will agree, along with the rest of the civilized world which provides such services. Wont they? But then, America isn’t part of the civilized world is it? Do you think we will ever join the intellectual union?

Har! By the way, jack, Obama’s budget is precisely the same amount as the GOP alternative.

pavlov is correct that SS was intended to be a “safety net” or supplement and NOT a full pension. The insurance and pharmaceutical companies DO regard Medicare as a cash cow. The failure to “negotiate” drug prices in Part D however was a pure Republican/industry plan to increase their profits, which greatly increased cost to taxpayers. But hey! Check out Rumsfeld’s ties to big pharma and you start to see the real picture.

^ And every President and Congress, Republican and Democrat, since 1964 has done the same thing. Congress, keep your hands off our Social Security!
