Linus walks with Charlie Brown and asks, "How can you tell a 'Kite-eating' tree from an ordinary tree?"<BR><BR> Charlie Brown explains, "You can't until you see a kite caught by one . . . An ordinary tree will let a kite go right away, but a kite-eating tree will hang on to a kite for weeks!"<BR><BR> Charlie Brown grits his teeth and continues, "They clutch kites in their greedy branches, and slowly devour them! It's a shocking sight . . . They eat the paper like it was fried chicken and spit out the sticks like bones."<BR><BR> Charlie Brown says, "Any one of these trees could be a monstrous kite eating tree . . . You just can't tell . . ." Linus looks scared as a tree growls.<BR><BR>

What CB says in panel 2 is so true-you won’t know whether or not a tree is a “kite eating”tree, unless and until it catches and "eats"your kite. Linus’ expression in last panel is PRICELESS, as if saying,“SO RIGHT, Charlie Brown, any of these tress just COULD be one of the DANGEROUS, EVIL, kite eating variety!”
