    I dug up some fish fossils in SE Wyoming a few years ago in 52 million year old sedimentary rock. I noticed that after 52 million years, most of the fish smell is gone.

    1 M BC is kinda young for a fish fossil. Much of the limestone that underlies the Great Plains was laid down during the Cretaceous period, about 65 M years ago.
