The whole effort to stop the migrants is doomed unless a way is found to remedy the conditions that makes so many of them so desperate to get here that they even take a chance of having their kids separated from them.
@DangerMan- Excellent point and that’s what I’ve been saying all along! All these immigrants are going to great lengths and even some, even risking not only separating from their families, but even risking their lives to escape the horrid conditions where they come from! Years ago when I was in high school system, a Russian kid was telling how the system where he’s from was the best. So I asked: “So what are you doing here??”
What we should be doing is seeing what we can do to improve the conditions in the countries these migrants are fleeing. Deal with the migrants who are already here as humanely as possible and make it easier for legal immigrants to become citizens. And, finally, to encourage highly skilled immigrants (doctors, lawyers, engineers, etc.) to come to this country.
