Hensen had already explained a long time ago that he created Bert and Ernie because he wanted to make a kids’ version of The Odd Couple (who weren’t gay either).

__Absolutely! I have friends (of both genders) that I love like family… in some cases (with certain family members) even more than family.I would drop anything I was doing if one of them needed help.

Okay folks, I am a liberal, gay man, and why are we concerned about the sexual orientation of 2 freakin puppets?? Bert and Ernie represent children anyway, so a trip down the aisle would just be creepy. However, back in the land of reality B&E are no more gay than was Tinky Winky of TeleTubby fame. They’re inanimate objects.Now, let’s get back to making fun of Michele Bachmann’s Big Gay Closeted Husband!

I always thought they were brothers growing up. Bert was always so mean to Ernie i thought he was the older brother.
