As for why Obama is still there, I presume part of it is that at least this president understands the Pottery Barn principle. Having wrecked Iraq, we have to clean it up at least enough to claim victory. Too bad it hasn’t “paid for itself,” as the neocons promised. And Afghanistan we have other reasons for, including Al Queda, assuming bin Laden is still alive.
