    The Jurassic Park “velociraptors” were actually based on Deinonychus. Crichton changed the name to be more dramatic. (That is, readily understandable by poorly educated audiences; Deinonychus means “terrible claw”, which should be dramatic enough for someone who speaks ancient Greek.)
