I still have mine. I thought the idea of having to go outside to make a phone call rather primitive. Not to mention that every other sentence was “What? Can’t hear you.”

I have always had a land line and always will. My family and friends know that the cellular phone I have (only because my family insisted that I have one) is for when I am not at home. It is turned on when I leave to go away from home and not until. If I do not recognize the number, I let voicemail answer the call. I dislike using it and refrain from calling out on it.

Back when cell phones were fairly new, we were seated in the same room with a man who was probably an insurance salesman. He was going over the details with a client, and talking loud to keep the connection. When he finally hung up, my sister went over to him and asked him, “Did you realize every person in this restaurant now knows your client’s name, address, phone number and SSN?” She handed him a napkin with all of the details jotted down, and walked away. The guy turned crimson.

A phone does not have a constitutional right to be answered.

Scumbags now are even stealing local numbers to show up when they call. Still, if I don’t know you, it’s immediately going to be ignored.

Solve that by answering the phone, putting it on speaker, then laying it down near a sound source, now, I just get annoying hangups.
