Good to see Calvin developing negotiating skills that may come in handy in the future.

A frightened mother used to smack you first, then burst into tears and hug you with protestations of love.

She found the car missing. Did she not notice Calvin was missing? It sounds like she called AAA, waited for them to tow it out, checked out the car, then said “hey! Has anyone seen the kid?”

I think I would have looked for the boy first. Hm.

Calvin is so scared he is being totally honest!! No aliens, no big monsters, just “we” as in “me.”

A very reasonable request. At that age, a kid doesn’t always know where he stands with his parents.

As Calvin’s lawyer I would plead that he’s a minor and his parents are the guilty party. They should have made sure the car was locked and the keys in a safe that only they know the combination to. If I were the judge trying the case . . . EXECUTE HIM!!! He’s already in a tree all we need is a rope:) I would further advise they try for a girl next time. They tend to be far less trouble:)

Questions need to be asked as to why the car didn’t have it’s emergency brake set. It’s going to be an interesting evening when Dad gets home.

When I was 11, I was hit by a car with 4 broken bones. My mother got there all I could think of to ask was “are you mad at me?” She was glad I was alive.

Parents usually handle the big things fairly calmly. They fly off the handle on the small stuff in the hope of preventing the big stuff.

Not only is the tiger imaginary, a six year old pushing a car is also far fetched as is the likelihood of her letting this go. lol

Calvin’s words in the last panel are SO moving. As far as mom is concerned, he didn’t do anything wrong, and the car should have been braked. Calvin meant no harm. Not sure what Dad will think about this, though. I can remember coming into the kitchen not knowing that my face was bloody from trying out my dad’s razor (very sharp razor, very little pain). When they saw it, I figured it was curtains for me, but they took it not as mischief but as imitating my dad. Then there were the two times I took our Big Ben alarm clock apart to see what made it tick (yeah, that’s literally true). There was no punishment, just telling me not to do it again. Curiosity wasn’t punishable, as vandalism would have been, I guess.
