When you have a rally and PROMISE there will be no empty seats — 19,000 seat capacity arena FILLED plus a 40,000 overflow facility, and the arena ends up two-thirds empty and the overflow area is completely empty and quickly taken down, it hasn’t been a good day.
As Dan Rather tweeted: “Paging Sean Spicer for a crowd estimate in Tulsa.”
When you spend more than ten minutes rationalizing why you limped tenuously down a ramp with a 3° slope (the same one Joe Biden ran up for a West Point graduation speech in 2016 when he was exactly the same age as Trump was), and your crowning achievement is to be able to drink a glass of water with one hand, it hasn’t been a good day.
We 1960’s hippies had a crowd of half a million and it is called WOODSTOCK.
Trump had a Tulsa crowd of just under 6,200 and it is called LAUGHINGSTOCK.
His walk back to the White House, disheveled, looking dejected, orange make-up staining his collar, said it all. Not only is Trump a LOSER, but he knows it.
Now the only question is how many of the Trump cult worshippers will get sick with a deadly infection, from Tulsa or his latest infection-fest in Phoenix.
If I heard correctly Nickelback played the BOK Center a few years ago and had a bigger crowd. Sad. Biggly sad. I know so many people, good, smart people who find this sad. Nickelback… Oh dear…
But.. on the positive side.. State TV (aka Fox News) had a record number of viewers to witness those empty seats. Perhaps.. some of those viewers will realize trumps appeal is losing ground.
Conservative pundit Michael Gerson: “In addition to being a poorly attended political flop featuring a defensive, bigoted, and barely coherent harangue, President Donald Trump’s recent campaign rally in Tulsa was a declaration of surrender to COVID-19. It is not possible to maintain that the United States is in a public health crisis while inviting thousands of people to yell spittle-flinging approval in an enclosed space. [note from Godfreydaniel: Not to mention all that foam from all those cases of rabies!] […]This means that Trump was willing to put his audience and their community [note from Godfreydaniel: And EVERY place the out-of-towners came from] at risk of infection and death. And for what? To bask in adulation? To restart his faltering campaign? Any excuse is ridiculously reckless. [note from me: Any excuse is CONTEMPTIBLE.] […] On public health, Trump is not acting like a pro-life president. […] His morality does not even rise to the level of utilitarianism. He seeks the greatest good for one person, and one person alone.”
Oh, and to quote one more noted pundit: Look up today’s classic “Far Side.” A bunch of slugs are congretating around a giant salt shaker. The caption reads “Of course the slugs worshipped their god out of fear, not love.” Explains A LOT about Trump cultists!

Then there’s the Nazi symbol on the tail…
They have actually used this in FB campaign ads. Trying to reach out to the “fine people” to let them know they’re still on their side.

As Stephen Colbert pointed out, half full would have been quite an improvement!

One of his aides insisted there were twice as many people there as the fire marshal counted. Still wouldn’t have been a full house.

Do the math. 6200 seats were filled in a 19,000 seat arena. That’s less than one third.

The comic should show the plane bouncing through the air – from the turbulence inside.
