So, about a week ago I was treated to Leonard Cohen’s “Famous Blue Raincoat” after not hearing it for ages. Would I be so lucky as to get that magnificent song lodged in my brain? Nope. Turns out there was another hit song from the era that copied a section of “Raincoat’s” melody and whose writer had to settle a lawsuit brought on by Cohen’s management. That annoyingly inferior piece of treacle is the tune my brain substituted and now I can’t erase… Leo Sayer’s “I Need You.” ARRRGGGHHHH!

I once read that the way to get an earworm out of your head is to start singing “God Save the Queen”. It did actually work a few times.
