    I’ll take the shampoos, but leave the towels. I don’t figure they plan on letting the next guest have 1/2 bottle of shampoo.

    The hotels actually prefer if you take the shampoo, soap, and other disposable items - it keeps the brand name in the customer’s mind (free advertising).

    But not the towels or the sheets or the curtain or the clock or the smoke detector…

    I saw on the news the other night (can’t remember which channel because I was only half listening) that there is a man who is getting hotels to donate those half used soaps, etc. He sterilizes them (or boils them down and makes new bars) then sends them to Africa where people don’t have access to things like soap.

    You’re also free to take the Bible. The Gideon Society places them free of charge in hotel rooms in the HOPES that people will take them. That’s what they’re all about.
