    I don’t know who’s at fault of doing their thing at the inconvenient time at the same time as the other’s thing: John or Elly.

    A real plumber or contractor would know where the turn off was for the kitchen alone and not the whole house.

    In order for this comic strip to work, it would mean that Phil waited so long after John turned off the water that Elly was able to get into a robe, wrap her head in a towel, and then exit the bathroom to give Phil an evil look. That’s a pretty slow reaction time from Phil, unless Elly is some kind of speedster. No doubt by this time John got tired of waiting for Phil to say something and then went to some other spot in the house to run water and check it was off and is now back in the kitchen ripping out the sinks while thinking, “Phil. As usual, he’s useless.”

    Oh no you don’t Elly. YOU are the one who nagged John about the kitchen remodeling, surely you understood that part of the remodeling involved deactivating the water valve.

    I put in a kitchen sink, LOL! I didn’t know you have to drain the water to solder pipes. Lousiest looking solder job, ever. But it worked.

    Each day, John gets closer to hiring a plumber.

    Oh,oh,the anal retentive types are at it again! Never heard of artistic license eh? Yeah the sink would have its own shut off,and Elly would never be having a shower mid-day with all that ruckus going on,but it was a funny gag anyway despite all the analytics.

    Elly didn’t count on this when she made her kitchen request. Now the fun begins.

    A professional would give a warning before turning off the water or electricity.

    Wait until she discovers she has to do dishes in the bathtub -unless they eat out, of course.

    Unfortunately, it looks like Phil (unjustifiably) is getting the blame and ire for this situation.

    Some people just don’t understand humor and the fact this takes place in the late 1980’s Canada.

    I wonder if Lady Gaga got her idea for her bubble dress from Panel 3 of this comic strip.

    I sympathize with Elly on this one. I’ve been there – more than once…

    Let me explain how water works in my house:

    First, it has to be pumped from the city water system using a small motorized pump that’s attached on one end, via hose, to the city water and on the other end, a hose that leads into a cistern on the ground floor of my house;

    Next, the water hase to be pumped out of the cistern by another electrical pump up to a huge plastic holding tank, on the 3rd floor roof patio;

    Water is then fed via gravity feed to the kitchens and bathrooms in the first and second floors.

    With 4 adults and 2 kids in the building, there’s times when the holding tank runs dry – usually, right in the middle of a shower !
