Hey! Burt found them! And we know for sure that Alice was with them all through the storm! And Goldie has a cold! And Tommy has his work outfit with him! . . . (and I’m first on the scene!) =)
So many lovely details! Tommy is back in bow tie! Burt’s thermos! Alice drinking Burt’s coffee from a tiny mug! XD … but I am a bit concerned that Goldie is sick …
OT: (Sue Ellen usually posts by now, but has been laid low by a case of the shingles.) I really hope you’re getting lots of rest, Sue Ellen, and that the meds you’ve been taking are starting to take effect. I bet your cats are keeping you warm and snuggled, and reminding you regularly that You Are The Big Spoon! xoxoxo :)
AAAAHHHHH! It’s Tommy Tannebaum time! I really need to get one of those orange cones but alas I’m too honest to steal one. Only ever seen really small ones for sale. Where do you get the big sturdy ones?
LET`S ROLL"..As nuch fun as Alice has had on this adventure, including being a reporter, it’s now time to go back home. Bet Tommy goes back for his tree b4 Christmas.
May I ask for some good vibes for our little Apple, the Siamese who has lymphoma? She also is hyperthyroid now and is on 3 medications altogether. But for the past few weeks she is back to vomiting daily (sometimes more than once), losing weight, just sort of like it was when she was diagnosed 20 months ago. Vet thought maybe it is a reaction to meds, but we’ve experimented with stopping one at a time, changing to every other day, etc. I promised her I won’t let her suffer with being sick all the time, so please think good things that she can turn this around soon and feel better. Thanks to all!
I wanted to wish everyone a blessed Veteran’s Day and Remembrance Day. Thank you all who have served your country and God bless. Also wanted to share a little story about a tuxedo cat called “Unsinkable Sam.” This was during WWII. Hope you wil enjoy it. Don’t forget to thank a veteran. 8)
For Remembrance Day; for all our loved ones who fought in the wars; and especially for the ones who never came home and are buried on some foreign soil:
In Flanders’ Fields the poppies blow
Between our crosses, row on row,
That mark our place, and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly,
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the dead: short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset’s glow
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders’ Fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you, from failing hands, we throw
The torch – be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die, we shall not sleep
I need Burt’s tiny headlamp when I go out running following the “fall back” time change. I had one, but it was misplaced somewhere … which of course means that as soon as I buy a new one, I will find it. Fortunately or unfortunately, however, Andrea’s experience has made me uber-paranoid about being on the same road with cars, so I’ll be getting one sooner rather than later. (My Monday evening runs/walks with the #rrnutz are on a greenbelt behind a shopping center – no cars to worry about there – but I’m going to need to start bumping up my distance again sooner rather than later.)
Speaking of: Raleigh’s answer to Team Hoyt – Team Andrea/Tom – put up a 2:33 time in their half this weekend.
OT: I also need to find an elf hat. I expect I could find them at your basic big-box stores but have never really gone looking for one.
One detail that hasn’t been mentioned is Alice watching Burt whil she’d she’s drinking coffee. I think those of us who predicted that she’d become MN’s tech are right and that Burt may have gained an apprentice.
He (I don’t know for sure he is a he, but since the majority of gingers are hes that is what I am going with unless I find out different) is a bit skittish. I have the food by my sliding glass doors and I came up to the doors not realizing he was there and he startled, but he didn’t go away, he sat on my deck waiting to see if it was safe. I tried to stay away from where he could see me as much as possible, but I had to take his picture. I was on my way out so I am not 100% sure if he came back to the food, but I assume he did when he decided it was safe. The food was gone when i got home, but that was a couple of hours later so I can’t be sure if he ate it.
Who all is sneezing? I’m having a hard time figuring out who the lines are supposed to be pointing to. The curved line pointing to poor Goldie, and the fact she’s wiping her nose, certainly says the poor dear has caught a cold from all that rain. But the three long spikes seem to point to Tommy and he doesn’t look like he’s sneezing. Are they maybe point behind him? Maybe Burt, Alice, Agnes, Natasha, and Violet, or a combination of any three of them are sneezing just off camera?
Staying out of my current chair as much as possible is helping. My hip/back is feeling better today than it has since it first started hurting. However, I think I will continue staying out of this chair as much as possible until the new one arrives.
Chair shipment tracking: Saturday, November 9 10:37 PM Package arrived at a carrier facility (in some town I have never heard of). I don’t think it will be here before tomorrow: which is when the friend who has promised to put it together for me will visit me next. She’s going out of town for a bit and I don’t expect to see her again until the 21st.
The robber mouse (I am sorry but I can’t keep them straight) is in the last panel. We last saw her behind camera 4 on Nov 7th, but did not see her in the greenhouse. Where was she? Did I miss something?
OT Enrico Furmee —This is from the woman who was fostering him: Rico, as he is affectionately known, is living at CARE (That’s in Skokie, IL— Scaeva). He’s been there a few weeks so he can be seen and has adjusted well. He grew up to be very sweet, friendly, and playful. He lives in a large catio with another young tabby named Roz. They’ve become good friends.
It’s supposed to get down to 19F tonight so Jora brought in Lily who has taken over Jora’s bed. I bet I end up with two computer kitties on my bed tonight. She left out food and water for any strays that might be hanging around. There is one feral that she named Doppelganger or Doppy that looks enough like Lily that I’m never sure which one is which.

From the Andrew Lloyd Weber musical of the same name: Whistle Down the Wind
Meow to the wind
Let your voices carry
Come in from the rain
Light a patch of darkness
With Tommy’s baum so merry.
…….
Meow at the stars
Nap when you are sleepy
We are all there with you
Burt will make the fix,
Tommy and Beatrix
Will help you when you feel like weeping!
…….
Through the whole night long,
We will keep you strong,
Every purr that send
We’ll be there without end,
We will not abandon you, our precious friend!
…….
So try and stand the tide
Know that we are with you,
With cats and the brave mice
You need never fear,
We are right beside you,
…….
Every meow that you send,
You know that all your friends are there!
So meow down the wind,
For we have always been right there!
