Noah wasn’t the only person in the world with a ship. What happened to the other ships during the flood?

Like global climate change, many did not believe that one either. Realization came late for most.

G-d’s way of ridding the world of the Nephilim; there is a theory put forth by geologists that the ice melt from the warmings of the earth as the ice age ended caused many massive glacial lakes world wide. The volume of the water eventually overwhelmed the rock walls holding it back and the resultant floods were disasterous.

According to the Book of Cosby, Noah himself didn’t know what an ark was: with this guy this could be the earliest Rorschach test.

I still want to know why they couldn’t save the wooly mammoths that we’re apparently still running around while the pyramids were under construction.

IIRC, the ark story supposedly happened in Mesopotamia, an area now known as Iraq. And the magical boat was made by a 600 year old man and his two 500 year old sons, with the animals making their way to Iraq themselves. This includes the 8,100 mile trek for the two penguins, the 11,000 mile trek for the two kangaroos, plus the other travel by the sloths, whales, polar bears, squid, platypus, and other animals. Yes, sea life had to have made their way by themselves, because the mixing of sea water and fresh water makes brine, which is unlivable for both forms of aquatic life.

And good luck finding anything to eat on the lands that were under water for more than a year. That’s assuming, of course, that the rudderless ark would just happen to steer itself towards the nearest piece of land. Floating a mere 20 miles past the nearest dry land would still be a bit of a swim for the elderly.

And this shows the ability of meteorologists to accurately forecast the weather has not improved thousands of years later.

Or we could just take the folklore of bronze age shepherds as the folklore of bronze age shepherds, and not try to turn it into history, or some sort of philosophical basis for living.

there is a theory that the Mediterranean Sea was a result (I hate to say “created”) when the Atlantic overflowed the straits of Gibraltar. Peoples in the Levant would have noticed – maybe that’s why the “flood” legend pervades their religions and cultures It’s just a theory,of course….
