The climate has warmed a bit since the Little Ice Age ended about 150 years ago – and thank goodness for that! But there hasn’t been any warming in the last 25 years, aside from the current warm wet cycle caused by last spring’s undersea volcanic eruption.
“ we can’t even change our behavior” … Define we. As a society, we are slow to change. Racism comes to mind as an example. Medical practices use to be a lot slower until the advent of litigation. Litigation proved to be an effective accelerator. I fear our coastline will be underwater before we change those behaviors. But at least women can now vote and we’ve closed those horrible mission schools.
Frazz nailed it. Most people hear about environmental degradation via the tv, and some read about it in print media, but few are in position to effect real changes. It’s the we would if we could thing.
But Kid also is right. Start with the easy and work up to the difficult. Problem is, which easy do we start on? There are so many.
Just like “first robin of spring”, one must consider WHERE the “April showers – May flowers” saying came from to judge its validity to your present location and clime.
We haven’t been recording the weather for very long. A few hundred years out of thousands really isn’t enough to know what “normal” weather is, much less what impact human behavior has on it. People are part of the ecosystem too, but we’re the only ones getting judged and controlled for our part in it
If the last two years’ winters indicate the new climate for southern California, I am forced to sheepishly say “Bring on climate change.” It’s amazing how nice it is when it actually gets some rain around here.
Unfortunately, I know the world extends beyond my backyard, and the benefits I’m getting are far outweighed by the downsized faced by most other people. So the good of the many, and all that.
“April showers bring May flowers” was a highly localized rhyme even before climate change. Just ask anyone in a tropical climate or south of the equator.

If we went back to the Roman calendar, the months would conveniently shift with the changing climate.

That we don’t have 13 months of 28 days each still annoys me.

I’d settle for our current generation of forecasters learning the distinction between “normal” and “average”.

“The love of money is the root of all evil” and the fact that we’re apparently willing to destroy the earth for the sake of it is proof.

Why should I change myself to suit the world? The world should change itself to suit me. I’m the one who matters, because I’m me.

Our behavior is determined by money — at least collectively.
With some glops of tribalism.

We still have daylight saving time. Why?
We still don’t have the metric system. Why?
Tevye had the answer. And it sucks just as bad now as it did then.

Don’t forget ‘Earth Orbit Day’; that one extra, special day between Decembuary (month 13) 28th and January 1st to bring us up to 365 days per year.

Frazz seems to be rooting for England the last few days. Or at least wearing their t-shirt.
