If the economy is so strong, Varvie, why does the St. Vincent dePaul Society get 1200 or so calls each week for help? (I’m sure other charities field similar numbers, but SVdP is the one I’m familiar with.).

Why is Wheeler Mission asking for funds so that they can expand their number of beds for the homeless?

Why are we having a charity 5K run this coming weekend to raise money so that teachers can get schools supplies for their kids who can’t afford them?

Why is it that when some firm, like Amazon, announces an expansion with jobs, between three and five people apply for each opening? (And when a long-term, high-paying, firm like Diamond Chain moves to another state, it gets 30 seconds on the news. Once. Certainly YOU aren’t drawing a ’toon.)

Very appropriate. The speech was so full of lies and distortions that it’s value as policy direction is completely useless. Might just as well make a statement of where it belongs.

Interesting cartoon. Pence in his most angelic pose, since he is near a (gasp) woman and ‘mother’ isn’t nearby. Trump with his usual pucker looking for another ass to kiss so he gets exactly what he wants. But most interesting – the interpretation of a strong woman who won’t take crap and stands for what she believes in while not spending an evening jumping to her feet and applauding wildly for each of the lies and exaggerations (and there were many) by the man who is supposed to guide this nation.

That’s what I love about America. One’s freedom to express themselves. Just cause you don’t like the reaction doesn’t mean it was wrong. Spending 90 min. spreading lies and using the SOTU as reality TV entertainment to distract was from those lies was more insulting to the American people.

Her speech ripping was far more provocative. Deliberately petty and petulant, it was a slow burn tantrum on display for the entire nation. It plays well with PART of her base but very poorly with the rest of the nation.

No one, NO ONE, can honestly claim it was appropriate behavior for the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the United States. Unless you step into yeah but… Unless you want to justify lowering herself to the very standard of behavior you decry Trump for.
