Miss a meal time by 5 seconds and the world ends for some cats. I had a cat that must have had a megaphone stuck down his throat because if meal time was late, the whole town knew! His meows could break windows and that was such a pane…

Elvis is not going to let a few facts interfere with his theories! Don’t back down, Elvis! Hold onto that dignified indignation!

I picked this up from Stephen Colbert:

A new declaration in Mexico gives 19 feral cats roaming the presidential palace food and care fur-everNow, the palace cats have made hiss-tory after the government of Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador declared them to be “living fixed assets,” the first animals in Mexico to receive the title.

Do a search on 19 mexican cats + presidential palace and you will get links to articles with more details and photos.

Has this never happened before? So shouldn’t they remember how long it would take?

(yes, I know that’s not how it works)

I read some mystery stories set in Key West, with mention of the Hemingway House and the resident cats.

I suppose “Keep Calm and Carry On” doesn’t apply to a hangry Siamese? An irritable Elvis is a force to be reckoned with.

Regretably, I often lie to my cats this way. Another is to tell them, as I start the car to take them to the vet, that “we’re almost there!”

Thank you, Burt, for appreciating the gravity of the situation. It is in serious crises like this, that we most respect responsible journalism. You and Elvis are the Tom Brokats of BCN.

9 Chickweed Lane by Brooke McEldowney does Hallmarks of Felinity in his strip. Solange is a Siamese who is a very typical Siamese and that’s the first time I read that word-phrase, Felinity.

    Meanwhile, Back on the Nile

Thomios: Everyone’s enjoyed the Double Down Cheese we served yesterday. Is there any way of procuring more?

Sue Chef: I’m not sure. This came from the Britannia Isles, from Vi’s cousin, Alvina.

Thomios: Then we must make the most of the cheese we have.

Agnes-Ata: If we had the recipe, we could possibly re-create the cheese.

Ta-Natash: That’s right. We have connects with the dairy at Punn State.

Vi: And we’ve been talking about taking a trip to Britannia. But right now there’s no ship in port sailing there.

Alice-Ata: Yeah. But sometimes there are happy coincidences.

    Enter Iggy Shipwright

Iggy: Guess what! My cousin Ziggy’s ship the Red Planet Spider has made an impromptu stop here in port!

Tash: That’s unexpected. Is everything alright?

Iggy: Everything’s fine. They want to pick up a cargo of gems for a special Artisans’ project.

Sue Chef: I wonder if any of our artisans are going.

Iggy: Yes. Soph and Adobe Style are going, while Arachna and Tillie are still working on a special project here.

Alice: Do you think they would take us procurers along?

Iggy: I can ask. But I’m sure they will.

After 8 hours of no internet, due to “service upgrades to improve speed and service” I’m looking about like Elvis! I think from now on anytime you use the term service it should be inside quotation marks. LOL Usually it means you’re getting served if you get my meaning.

In emergency rooms, “soon” always means two hours. This has proved to be remarkably consistent.

Mine don’t get angry. But the look on their faces when you get out the cat dishes, get out the fork, open the grocery closet – and then turn around and walk out the door – is just pathetic.

Just this weekend my hubs and I loaded a case of canned food into the Infinite Cupboard of Foods and realized we only had one case left in storage. I immediately sat down and ordered two more cases because CATS!!! I really don’t want to wake up one morning to find I’m the main course because supplies got too low!

Ah yes, cat’s acting like whiney three year olds when they don’t get fed when they want. Our cats will sit impatiently waiting to be fed, while the dogs are content to be called to dinner.

I read a man once tried to raise kittens by carefully varying the feeeding times to see the effect. In the end after some months it basically came down to resulting in the growing cats feeling theycould get fed at anytime on demand, chaos

We had to run to the vet for cat food just before we left for a trip. We had plenty, but my husband had to ease his mind. Two older cats do NOT eat 13 lbs of food in 10 days.

The food arc brings back memories of a neighborhood feral we used to feed. We found Katie with her young kittens during a rainstorm, & after the usual coaxing we sheltered her, found homes for her kittens, & always provided wet food for her whenever she showed up. For a while she took up residence at a neighbor’s several blocks away, & went they went on vacation we assumed her feeding. One day we grabbed some dry food, & when we put down that food she took one look at us & said “no way!” I started to walk back to our house for a can, & she followed me to the corner, chastising me all the way. She waited there until I returned with a can, then herded me back to her feeding bowl. Order restored!

After remembering about the existence of this strip a week or two ago, I decided to reread the entirety of BCN here on GoComics, and as of today I’ve finally finished! I first discovered this strip in 2020 or 2021, but eventually stopped visiting this site. Rereading it again now and remembering everything I loved about it has brought me so much happiness. Glad to be back!
