ALL kids need to go to that camp! It’s obvious some politicians didn’t get there, so maybe their kids can explain it to them.

Hey dad, since he doesn’t like the increase tell him he isn’t going to get it.

I remember my dad saying he was going to double our allowance. Still equaled zero, of course.

And the kid would prefer a 4.8% inflation rate? Back in the so called good ole days, all my raises rarely kept up with inflation. Now with Social Security, I’m living on easy street.

Ok so no increase. That means you lose 4.8% spending value. Happy?

No, the U.S. inflation rate is not 4.8%. It’s way below that, at 3.6%, despite what Republican propaganda will tell you. And average wage growth in the U.S. is 4.5%.

I’ve effectively had a pay cut for the last couple of decades as it’s hardly ever above inflation.

We will continue to have problems when CEOs give themselves much bigger pay raises than the peons who work for them.

I was at one meeting when the CEO of a company (now holding a high government post relating to mail delivery) said, “I like this new salary plan. Now the workers can (use synonym for fornicate here) me for much less money.”

News says government said inflation was ONLY 3.8% for March. Hey that sounds good but that’s added to the other 3.+ % from prior months.

My question is did all politicians skip math and or accounting classes in either grade school or high school, or maybe they were the bullies and took everyone’s lunch money so they never had to understand that you can’t spend more than you take in?

The Fed is doing a pip-pip job in controlling it. Maybe we should do what Mexico did … simply toss the useless currency and print another.

Ages ago we had high inflation in the US and the company I worked for gave us a raise that didn’t even begin to meet inflation. Some raise. The same company paid low wages I work there so I could get experience as a secretary and move on which is what everybody else did. They moaned why do we have such a high turnover we have great benefits and folks said you can’t eat benefits

the ant-child is wrong. He’d rather see a loss of 4.8% buying power on his allowance vs a 2.8% loss.

realize the loss from inflation already happened. refusing an increase because it isn’t enough is losing money – getting partway there is better than no way there (outside of extremist politics… which wants all or nothing so they can complain).

If they hadn’t spent all that money on the camp, it would be a 5% raise.
